Surain is the Scientific Lead of GEMINI, Canada’s largest hospital data analytics and research network. GEMINI collects detailed clinical and administrative data from over 30 Ontario hospitals, which are used by a large community of researchers to gain insights into patient care and improve patient outcomes.
Surain is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation at the University of Toronto. He is also a co-investigator of the Canadian Network for Autoimmune Liver Disease. His research focuses on understanding differences in quality of inpatient care, real-world effectiveness of therapies, and clinical prediction. He specializes in methodological aspects of clinical research, and his work spans multiple clinical areas.
Surain completed his PhD at the University of Toronto and his AB at the University of Chicago.
